Ok now before you do a double take, this guy is NOT lip synching, it's actually him singing.
How he sung this song, or WHY he chose this song for that matter. Is a complete mystery.
But it's eerily too similar.
Yes im still at CCRI YES im sweating like a dog but my friend is here so at least im not at it alone.
Taiwan's Susan Boyle
Chubby underdog blows judges away as he belts out Whitney Houston... and becomes YouTube hit
Susan Boyle needs to look out - there's another YouTube singing sensation shooting up the popularity charts.
Lin Yu Chun is short, fat, has a bowl-cut hairstyle and wears a red bow tie, but the Taiwanese youngster sings exactly like Whitney Houston. Which explains why a clip from the karaoke TV show Super Star Avenue has become a massive hit on YouTube and Twitter.
His pitch-perfect rendition of the Whitney Houston/Dolly Parton mega-hit I Will Always Love You blew a panel of judges away.
FYI, this made the [entertainment is good] page, if that explains anything for myself and my random presence.
I'm trying to remember who send me a link to this-- I keep thinking it was a family member or something like that. I'm trying to articulate my thoughts and feelings on this... really, my gut reaction is that it's another example of Asian assimilation; taking something Western and replicating/imitating something down to the last detail as much as the performer is able to. I hope that doesn't seem offensive, but I don't know how to explain it any other way since I've seen it before, especially among concert pianists (I was a music student for a number of years). I would not be surprised if he spoke little to no English himself outside of the song.

I doubt it, I mean he chose to sing Whitney Houston after all, it was his choice,
He should expect some sort of odd response.
and even better he's famous now and probably making a lot of money, I even saw him with William Shatner the other day on tv.

Im not really taking it seriously or offensive at all, I just find it amusing if anything, because something that he replicated down to a science is getting him a lot of fame and money, which is obviously his goal, why else would an asian man sing whitney houston?
He's probably getting exactly what he's been looking for. Good for him.
